If we cannot turn it upside down, we can at least help and give some new dimensions wherein the new students can benefit. 1. Personal Excellence: ‘Pulse’ is an indication of a person’s health. Similarly, his/her ability to engage in a meaningful interaction at a given point of time is an indication of the teacher’s personal competence, resourcefulness and dexterity. We define it as teachers’ Interactive Influence. How do we help teachers improve?
2. Professional Excellence: Even though education is largely a product of the relationship between a student and the teacher, students expect ‘business-like’ professional approach from their teachers when it comes to developing students' mastery of a subject or in promoting students’ academic integrity. How do we help teachers improve?
3. Language Excellence: Research has shown that teacher’s talk dominates 70% to 98% of classroom talk. Hence, it is important to think that what kind of teacher’s talk is useful. It is the kind of talk that makes for comprehensible (not comprehensive) input, the kind that enhances (not controls) learning, and the kind that engages (not disengages) learners.
